DaVinci Resolve Free Training Manuals!

Color Correction with DaVinci Resolve is the official Blackmagic Design certified training book that teaches professionals and students how to get the most out of color correction using DaVinci Resolve 15. The guide uses practical, hands-on exercises for you to learn the program’s many grading tools and workflows, and gain an in-depth understanding of advanced techniques and creative industry practices. At the end of the book is a link to a 50-question online proficiency exam where upon completion you’ll receive an official Certificate of Completion from Blackmagic Design.

You hit the floor running in the first lesson starting with restoring a Resolve Archive, setting up a color-managed workflow, understanding the grading workflow, maximizing dynamic range, balancing colours, and an understanding in the differences between the LOG Controls and the Primaries Wheels. At the end of the chapter is a lesson review and short quiz. Even though I’ve freelanced as a colorist on independent films and small corporate jobs in the past, I was still very impressed with the lessons and feel like it was an excellent opportunity to  refresh my skills with formal lessons.

For those of you considering taking the lessons, it is very worthwhile to learn from the official certified training books from Blackmagic Design. You can find their training books, video tutorials, and more information on their training page.  I wouldn’t hesitate starting these lessons – they can help you become a DaVinci Resolve certified user in no time. Cheers & Hej då!

BTW: If you’re looking for an inexpensive method to connect a broadcast monitor to your computer, you may want to try the Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro 4K Capture & Playback I/O Card. That’s what I use on my home system and it works fantastic. For $199, I can’t think of a more economical way to hook up a monitor, as well as capture from both HDMI and analog sources. Got some vintage videos or archival footage you want to ingest? Works like a charm!

On a laptop? Here’s the USB 3.0 version of the Blackmagic Design Intensity Shuttle:
Both of these are great entry level cards to connect video equipment to your computer. Cheers!
